What is the definition of a commercial vehicle?

The definition of a commercial vehicle can vary depending on the organization you ask. In Florida, the status of a commercial vehicle requires a certain weight and number of axles. According to flsenate.gov, a commercial vehicle in Florida has a gross weight of 26,001 pounds or more, three or more axles, or is used in combination when the combination exceeds 26,001 pounds. A commercial vehicle only needs to fulfill one part of that definition to count.

Which GM vehicles meet the Florida definition of commercial vehicle?

A Chevrolet Silverado HD has a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,450 pounds. Legally, it may not qualify as a commercial vehicle unless used in a combination that exceeds the minimum weight rating. However, most people would consider the Silverado HD a vehicle primarily used for commercial purposes. What does that mean? If it isn’t legally a commercial vehicle, you don’t need special licensing to drive it.

Which Chevrolet models are considered commercial?

On the Chevrolet website, the following vehicles are listed under Commercial: Colorado, Silverado, Express Vans, Express Cutaway, Silverado HD, Silverado 3500 HD Chassis Cab, Low Cab Forward, and Silverado 4500 HD/5500 HD/6500 HD. All of these models are appropriate for various jobs.

Which GMC models are considered commercial?

The GMC website lists the following vehicles under Commercial: Savana Passenger, Savana Cargo, Savana Cutaway, and Sierra 3500 HD Chassis Cab. Any GMC truck or SUV could also be used for commercial purposes.
