Six steps to putting new wiper blades on your car

Replacing your vehicle’s wiper blades is a straightforward process that can be done at home with the right tools and a little know-how. By performing this simple maintenance task, you can ensure that your wipers are working properly and that you are driving safely during inclement weather. Here are the steps to replace your vehicle’s wiper blades:

  1. Purchase the correct replacement wiper blades: First, you need to find out what type of wiper blades your vehicle uses. Check your owner’s manual or consult with an automotive parts store to determine the correct size and type of wiper blades you need.
  2. Lift the wiper arms: Lift the wiper arms away from the windshield until they are in a vertical position.
  3. Remove the old wiper blades: Look for the release tab or button on the wiper blade’s connector. Press or slide this tab to release the blade from the wiper arm. You may need to use pliers or a screwdriver to help release the blade.
  4. Attach the new wiper blades: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for attaching the new wiper blades. Typically, this involves sliding the connector onto the wiper arm until it clicks into place.
  5. Lower the wiper arms: Once both new wiper blades are attached, lower the wiper arms back onto the windshield.
  6. Test the new wiper blades: Turn on your vehicle’s wipers and make sure that the new blades are working properly. Check for any streaks or areas of the windshield that are not being cleared.
