Interested in the best new trucks on the market? We’re going to take a look at how two new trucks stack up side by side – the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado vs. 2018 Ford F-150 – to see which vehicle comes out on top of the vehicle market.
The Chevrolet Silverado is an iconic and classic car that’s appeared prolifically in songs and movies and become a symbol of aggressive power and style in and of itself. The new 2018 Chevrolet Silverado definitely doesn’t disappoint, and stands up to and exceeds some of its earlier predecessors. We’re not the only ones that think so – the new 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has won multiple awards, including the J.D. Power award for ‘The Most Dependable Large Light Pickup’, and rated Best in Class for available V8 horsepower and Best in Class for available V8 fuel economy. With a number of accolades to its name, as well as superior performance, styling, and capability, we think this vehicle is going to be a hard truck to beat out.
The Ford F-150 has also been recognized as a premier vehicle with a number of awards to its name. With the Ford F-150’s new styling it leaves behind some of the traditional truck exterior for something refreshing and new. If you’re a fan of traditional truck exterior and aesthetic, this may be a hard vehicle to get used to, but with its capability and safety features, it still possesses components that car buyers will be happy with. This is going to be a tough competition to determine a winning vehicle, but when it comes down to it, performance is always number one when it comes to trucks, and we think that in this regard the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has the edge over 2018 Ford F-150.
Possessing the ultimate in safety and capability features – this is a car that’s truly going to take care of you. If you’re using this vehicle to pull and hitch heavy loads, than you’ll be happy to note the number of safety and security options that are available for you and your cargo. The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has a tow/haul mode which adjusts transmission shifts to reduce shift cycling down steep grades. The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado features StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control, which automatically detects trailer sway and applies vehicle and trailer brakes to keep everything in line. Finally, Hill Start Assist is also included, which holds the brake momentarily so you do not slide back when you’re starting on a steep grade.
As far as safety features for the truck, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has a myriad of safety features to keep you, your family, and your friends and coworkers safe. Some safety features on the vehicle include low-speed forward automatic braking, lane keep assist with forward automatic braking, forward collision alert, safety alert driver seat, front and rear park assist, rear vision camera, and an OnStar Safety Security Plan. This car helps keep you vigilant and offers preventative measures to keep accidents and all sorts of damage from happening to you and your vehicle.
The F-150 also has many smart towing features available that will make trailering and towing cargo that much easier. The vehicle includes smart capabilities like ProTrailer BackUp Assist – which syncs the vehicle and the trailer when you back up, dynamic hitch assist, smart trailer tow connector – which alerts you to any connectivity issues, factory installed trailer brake controller, and a Blind Spot Information System.
The 2018 Ford F-150 also includes a couple of safety features like Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Lane-Keeping systems. With fewer safety features on the vehicle than the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, we think that this vehicle still lags behind on the best new truck on the market competition.
The interior of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado is something to behold. With black and cream leather seating to choose from, chrome accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the latest technologies making up the command center, the interior of this vehicle is truly the pinnacle of style and sophistication.
The vehicle seats a spacious five, with plenty of legroom in the back seats to stretch out and relax. There are also a number of convenience options like the 8-inch Chevrolet MyLink touch screen to display any of your navigation or entertainment needs, steering wheel controls to answer calls and adjust volumes hands-free, as well as USB ports, and an available wireless charging station for your smart devices.
This is a smart, comfortable, and sophisticated interior for the modern truck buyer – with any and all of your needs met in this spacious and stunning space.
The interior of the 2018 Ford F-150 is, unfortunately, a bit clunky for our taste. The instrument panel and command center is overly large and obtrusive, taking away from a possible sophisticated exterior. With all of the buttons and instruments included in the command center, it’s a little overwhelming at first glance. Drivers and critics question if the large center is necessary, and wonder if subtlety overall would have been preferred. However, the truck also has premium black leather seating, which adds a touch of style, as well as a choice of camel fabric seating. A futuristic touch is the ambient blue lighting that can be turned on in the interior of the vehicle. Overall, we prefer the classy and yet refined minimal interior of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado to this vehicle.
The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado comes with three different engines to choose from depending on the power and performance you’re looking for.
These three options give you a lot to choose from and the 6.2L V8 engine is a powerful option that offers you the impressive performance capability for any job you might need done. With a high strength steel frame and an 8-ft bed, this is a truck you can truly depend on.
The 2018 Ford F-150 also has a number of engine options:
The towing capacity of the 2018 Ford F-150 is 5000-8000 lbs, a little less than the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, and does not have the same amount of horsepower. With these criteria in mind, we think that the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has the 2018 Ford F-150 beat hands down.
